Abstract

This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted to determine the factors influencing the level of adherence of De La Salle-Health Sciences Institute varsity players to an exercise program. Sixty varsity players were chosen as respondents. Questionnaires were used as instruments in data gathering. Results of the study revealed that majority of the player-respondents were male college students with ages between 18-21 years old. Most of them had adapted a regular training schedule for practice. analysis of data also showed that personal, environmental and program factors influence the respondents' level of adherence to an exercise program as indicated by the over-all mean of 3.85 interpreted as "Agree". The study, further showed that 63.33% of the respondents have hogh levels of adherence to an exercise program while 23.33% and 13.33% were found to have high and moderate levels of adherence. As indicated in the results, personal, environmental and program factors are significantly correlated to the respondents' level of adherence as shown by the greater computed Chisquare (x2) values when compared to the critical values. the authors, therefore concluded that there is a significant relationship between the personal, environmental program factors and the level of adherence of De La Salle- Health Sciences Institute varsity players to an exercise program.
