Abstract
The study aimed to determine the Quality of Life of the Senior Citizens in Paliparan III, Dasmariñas, Cavite as tp psychosocial functioning includes the life satisfaction, social function and cognitive function while Physical functioning includes the life satisfaction, social function and cognitive function while Physical Functioning includes physical function, self care and sexual function. The study utilized a descriptive type of research design. A total number of 150 respondents comprised the study. In gathering the data, the researchers went to Paliparan III Dasmariñas, Cavite during their general assembly and they were given a modified LEIPAD questionnaire. The study revealed that most or 22% of the senior citizens aged 63-65, 76 of whom are female (50.67%) and 74 (43.33%) are males. Majority (75 or 50%) of the respondents are married. As to psychosocial functioning, the senior citizens of Dasmariñas, Cavite has a high quality of life with the total mean score of 0.86. They were satisfied with their quality of life (mean score = 0.73), satisfied with the social function (0.96), even though they occasionally experience some problem (0.89). as to physical functioning, the senior citizens of Dasmariñas Cavite, also has a high quality of life with a mean score of 0.9. They are good with their physical health (1.06), they can do self care without difficulty (0.5) and they are not sexually active just a little (1.14). In conclusion, the senior citizens in Paliparan III, Dasmariñas Cavite has a high quality of life, both in terms of psychosocial and physical functioning. The researchers then recommend that more seminars and activities like participation in various exercise and recreational programs be given to the senior citizens to further enhance their quality of life.
