Abstract
This is a descriptive study aimed to determine the gait determinants prior to ambulation training among stoke patients in selected De La Salle-Health Sciences Campus affiliated centers. This study utilized a research-made questionnaire that was written in English. The researchers selected the respondents using the following inclusion criteria: 1. should be a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. 2. with at least one year of clinical experience in handling ambulation training among stroke patients and 3. with at least one stroke patient handled for ambulation training. The result of the study shows that the top 5 gait determinants perceived by Physical Therapy clinicians out of 47 respondents are balance (94%), MMT (85%), diagnosis (72%), ROM (68%) and timing of intervention (64%). Al the Physical therapy clinicians included in the study have similar answers in general. Results also showed that physical therapy clinicians prioritize balance as the most common gait determinants prior to ambulation training of stroke patients and gender is the least. The results of this study will help the researchers in formulating goals in the rehabilitation program concerning gait training.
