Abstract
This is a descriptive study that determines the self-efficacy of knee function after anterior cruciate ligament injury of injured varsity players of De La Salle System and other Schools in Region IV-A. The study consists of 50 ACL injured athletes from De La Salle system and other schools in region IV-A as respondents. Modified K-SES and the Knee Self Confidence Scale were used as the questionnaires so as to inquire on the respondent's demographic profile, training profile, clinical profile, to determine the slef-efficacy to knee function of the injured athletes as to daily activities, Sports activities, physical function, perceived knee future function, to classify the self efficacy of the injured athletes based on their scores. and to compare the self-efficacy confidence scale of the injured athletes. The respondents were chosen based on the following criteria: Injured varsity players from De La Salle system and other school in region IV-A, patients that range from 18-24 years old, male or female, diagnosed with ACL injury only and not having an ACL injury of more that 2 years. They were excluded if patient were greater than 25 years old, diagnosed with other knee ligament injuries, and had an ACL injury of more thatn 2 years. Results of the study showed that athletes were certain to a moderate extent as to self efficacy to knee function. Seventy four percent (74%) of the athletes were certain to a good extent and 26% were certain to a moderate extent as to the scores of their self-efficacy. In comparison of the self-efficacy confidence scale, track and field athletes were confident to a great extent while badminton athletes were confident to a moderate extent. The researchers then recommend that a follow-up study on the factors that affects the self-efficacy of the injured athletes must be conducted.
