Abstract
In 2017, PhilHealth’s Z Benefits Program for Children with Developmental Disabilities was created to provide financial aid for parents of children identified to have such disabilities. In the year of 2026, only 5 contracted health facilities are able to offer the use of this program to decrease the costs of child assessments and therapy sessions, and limited information has been provided by the institution regarding this program. The purpose of this study is to determine the levels of awareness and attitude of Filipino parents of children with neurodevelopmental disorders, receiving therapy at the Play Is Cool Therapy, OPC, towards PhilHealth’s Z Benefits for Children with Developmental Disabilities. A survey questionnaire, developed by the researchers, was validated by pertinent field experts and tested for reliability after conducting the pilot study. Using the quota sampling method, responses from 15 participants were gathered. In terms of frequency, the parents’ level of awareness were found in the ranges of low to moderately low, while attitude was noted to be high to moderately high. These findings suggest that limitations in knowledge of the program does not entail negative receipt; rather, the parents hope to receive the opportunity to be alleviated of the financial burdens brought about by the cost of pediatric therapy in the Philippines.
