Abstract

The researchers used a descriptive type of research design. The respondents were composed of 40 children from DBB-1 Dasmariñas, Cavite who takes care of their elderly parents, 65 years old and above. The use of convenience sampling was done to gather the data needed. The questionnaire was used as an instrument that deals with the perception of children towards bringing their elderly parents in Home for the Aged. The statistical treatment used were frequency distribution, mean, t-test and f-test for the investigation of the hypothesis and association between variables. The conclusions of the study were the following: 1) The profile of the children of elderly parents in Dasmarinas, Cavtie shows that most them were 29 to 33 years old, female, married, Catholic and working majority earns P5,000.00 and above and finished high school and college; 2) Majority of the respondents agree that Home for the Agd is an institution which accepts elderly with age range of 65 and above; 3) Most of the respondents were neutral regarding their perception of bringing their elderly parents in a Home for the Aged; 4) There is no significant difference in the perception of the respondents regarding Home for the Aged when they are grouped according to age and sex; 5) There is no significant difference in the perception of the respondents regarding bringing their elderly parents in a Home for the Aged when they are grouped according to age, sex, civil status, monthly family income, educational attainment. But there is significant difference when they are grouped according to religion and occupation.
