Abstract

The study utilized a descriptive type of research. The respondents were 50 primary care givers of elderly in selected barangays in Dasmarinas, Cavite particularly in Barangay Sta. Maria and Barangay San Antonio de Padua II. The respondents were grouped according to age, civil status and relationship to the elderly. The researcher made use of books, journals, and studies gathered to determine the knowledge, attitude, and practice of the primary caregiver regarding the care of elderly. The primary instrument used for the data gathering was a self-made questionnaire. The statistical treatment used in the study were frequency distribution, mean, and f-test. 1) In terms of age, most of the respondents were 18-25 years old group or in adolescent stage, single and grandchild in relation to the elderly; 2) The knowledge, attitude and practice of the respondents were very good based on their answers in the interviewed questions which they answered as strongly agree in relation to knowledge and attitude and always practice in relation to practice; 3) There were no significant differences on the knowledge, attitude and practice of the primary caregivers regarding the care of the elderly when grouped according to age, civil status and relationship to the elderly.
