Abstract
The descriptive research method was utilized in this study, as this method is designed to summarize the status of phenomena of interest. A total of 50 fathers expecting for their first baby born from Julu- October 2000 served as the respondents of this study. The State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) was the instrument used. The statistical treatment used in the study were mean, frequency distribution, f-test, and t-test. 1) Majority of the respondents were 22-25 years old, in the college level, employed, had a monthly family income of P2,000 and below and most of their wives underwent normal spontaneous deliver; 2) The average mean shows that the respondents had a moderate level of anxiety during childbirth experience because they want to present an overall picture of restlessness toward childbirth experience; 3) There is no significant difference in the level of anxiety of expectant fathers during childbirth experience when respondents grouped according to age, educational attainment, occupational status, and monthly family income. There is a significant difference in the level of anxiety of expectant fathers during childbirth experience when they are grouped according to type of delivery. Those whose wives underwent caesarean section had a moderate level of anxiety during childbirth experience; 4) There’s other qualitative findings not covered by the tool that determine the level of anxiety of expectant fathers.
