Abstract

The researchers used the descriptive exploratory in this study. The respondents of the study were women who became mothers during their adolescent years whether married or single. The main data gathering instrument was a questionnaire adapted from Mc Hall and Huston’s. The statistical treatment utilized in the stud were percentage, mean, and f-test. 1) That in terms of level of education of the respondents, majority of them attained college education. Majority of the respondents were employed but most of them belong to low class having a family monthly income of P5,000 and below. Most of the respondents gained support from their husband; 2) The level of parenting behavior of Filipino adolescent mothers was 4.05 which means that they performed infant care most of the time concerning the four aspects of child care. The respondents were more involved in socio-emotional aspect of the child care obtaining 4.30 followed by the cognitive, spiritual and moral aspect gaining 4.01 and with the physical aspect gaining 3.95 which means they performed infant care most of the time; 3) In terms of level of education, employment status, socio-economic status and presence of support system of the respondents, there were no significant differences in parenting behavior of Filipino adolescent mothers, as a results of the study made, such variables does not affect the parenting behavior of adolescent mothers.
