Abstract

A descriptive non-experimental type of research was utilized in this study. The respondents of the study were newly diagnosed pulmonary TB patients of Pasig City from 8 Health Centers of Pinagbuhatan, Pineda, Santa Lucia, Rosario, Napico, Bangbang, and Karangalan; smear positive, either male or female, at any age. The following were the exclusions; patients who underwent previous TB treatment; smear negative and extrapulmonary cases. The researcher utilized purposive sampling a nonprobability sampling method in which the researcher selects subjects for the study on the basis of personal judgement about which ones will be most representative of productive; also referred to as judge mental sampling. The researchers used the Department of Health National Tuberculosis Program (NTP) card to serve as a guide in obtaining the variables: age, gender, occupational status and treatment outcome. The statistical treatment used in the study were frequency, percentage, and chi-square. 1) Majority of the respondents were young adult, male, unemployed and cured; 2) Majority of the respondents had a full compliance and had undergone the treatment for six months and above; 3) There are no significant differences in compliance regarding DOTS when respondents were grouped according to age, gender, occupational status and treatment outcome.
