The level of stress experienced by the primary caregivers of cancer patients in selected hospitals. 3. The level of coping experienced by the primary caregivers of cancer patients in selected hospitals. 4. If there are significant differences on the level of stress of the primary caregivers of cancer patients when grouped according to age, gender, civil status, religion, and educational attainment. 5. If there are significant relationships between the level of stress and coping of the primary caregivers of cancer patients. This study focused on the level of stress and coping as experienced by primary caregivers of cancer patients in selected hospitals, namely: Veterans Memorial Medical Center in North Avenue, Quezon City and De La Salle University Medical Center in Dasmariñas, Cavite. The study included 75 respondents, 19-73 years old who were primary caregivers of the cancer patients. The primary caregivers chosen were rendering care to cancer patients for not less than a month. Grieving process, type of cancer, presence of support system of primary caregivers, financial income and relationship to the cancer patients were excluded on this research. The following findings were drawn from this study: 1. The respondents' profile showed that of the 75 respondents, 31% belonged to the 19-29 years old group, 73% were females, 55% were married, 75% were Catholic and 53% reached college level. 2. The respondents had moderate level of stress and high level of coping with an overall mean of 2.77 and 3.42, respectively. 3. The level of stress of the primary caregivers of cancer patients when grouped according to age, gender, civil status and educational attainment did not vary. However, there was a significant difference in terms of religion. Age, civil status and educational attainment obtained F-statistic values of 0.518, 2.030 and 0.890, respectively against tabular value of 1.96. 4. The level of coping of the primary caregivers of cancer patients when grouped according to age, gender, civil status and educational attainment did not vary. Age, civil status and educational attainment obtained F-statistic values of 0.328, 0.321 and 1.289, respectively against F-tabulated values of 2.50, 2.72 and 2.72, respectively. Gender and religion obtained computed t-values of 1.069 and 0.272, respectively against tabular value of 1.96. 5. The correlation coefficient was found to be equal to-0.33 indicating a negative linear correlation. The t-value of 2.98 was greater than tabular value of 1.96 indicating that significant relationship existed between the level of stress and coping of the respondents..
