Abstract

The primary purpose of the study is to determine the level of care rendered to geriatric patients in selected institutions for the aged, namely Tahanan ni Maria, Mama's Hope Haven Home for the Aged and Bahay Pag-ibig at Pag-asa Home for the Aged, in terms of physical, emotional, social and spiritual aspects. B.SPECIFIC 1.To determine the profile of the elderly respondents of Tahanan ni Maria, Mama's Hope Heaven Home for the Ages, and Bahay Pag-ibig at Pag-asa Home for the Aged in terms of gender, civil status, educational attainment, length of stay in the institution, relationship to the visitors and sources of financial support, 2.To measure the level of care received by the elderly physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. 3.To determine if there is a significant difference on the level of care rendered to the elderly when they grouped according to gender, civil status, educational attainment, length of stay in the institution, relationship to visitors and resources of financial support. The study focused on the level of care rendered to geriatric patients presently residing in homes for the aged. The level of care covers the aspects of physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. The respondents were 50 elderly in selected institutions in Cavite whose ages ranged from 60 and above. The respondents are those who were able to comprehend and respond consciously.  In the light of the findings in this research, the following conclusions were drawn: 1.Most of the elderly inthe institutions were females who were widowed and reached only primary education abd were mostly undergraduate. They had been staying in the institution for less than three years and had no visitors. Almost all of them had financial support coming from the institution itself. 2.The elderly respondets, whether male or female, single, married, widowed or seperated, with or without high educational attaintment , new or old in the institution. with or without visitors, and with or without financial support from their families and government were treated and cared for equality inside the institution. The only means that the profile of geriatric patients residing in selected institutions does not affected the level of care rendered to them. 3.The level of care rendered to geriatric patients is high whether on the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual aspect of care. This is because of the collaborative care given by the caregivers, administrators and social workers to the elderly inside the institution for the aged. It was evidently observed that the selected institutions in Cavite namely Mama's Hope Heaven Home for the Aged in General Trias, Tahanan ni Maria in Carmona, and Bahay Pag-ibig at Pag-asa Home for the Aged in Imus were giving a high level of care because they have a routine schedule when it comes to the physical aspects of the elderly such as growing, nutrition and safety. They also have activities that would expose the elderly to social interactions and religious gatherings. The health care provider in every institution had a mutual relationship with the elderly that is why the elderly were able to express how they feel and are comfortable on being with the caregivers.
