Abstract

This study aims to determine the effects of ballroom dancing to the level of anxiety of the elderly in selected nursing homes in Cavite. B.SPECIFIC This study sought to answer the following problems: 1.What is the socio-demographic profile of the elderly in terms of age, gender, and civil status, and previous occupation, length of stay inside the nursing home, way of entering the institution, educational attainment and religion? 2.What is the level of anxiety among the elderly regarding the effects of ballroom dancing between those who are exposed and not exposed to the intervention? 3. Are there significant differences in the level of anxiety of the elderl;y regarding the effects of ballroom dancing when group according to their age, gender, civil status, previous occupation, length of stay inside the nursing home, way of entering the institution, educational attainment and religion, between those who are exposed and not exposed to the intervention? 4.Is there is a significant difference in the level of anxiety of the elderly regarding the effects of ballroom dancing between those who are exposed and not exposed to the intervention? This study focused on the effects of ballroom dancing to the level of anxiety of the elders inside the nursing homes. This was conducted primarily in Tahanan ni Maria, Bahay Kalinga ni San Jose and Mama's Hope Haven. Respondents were limited to thirty elderly who have th following characteristics: a.) Sixty years old and above b.) Staying inside a nursing home. c.) Coherent and could read and/ or understand Filipino language d.) Capable of dancing
