Abstract
This study aims to determine the level of support received as perceived by Nursing Students batch 2007 of De La Salle University - Health Sciences Campus. B. SPECIFIC To determine: 1)The profile of the respondents in terms of religious affiliation, socio-economic status, and family structure; 2)The level of support being received by the respondents; 3)If there is a significant difference between the level of support being received by the respondents when they are grouped according to religious affiliation, socio-economic status, and family structure; and 4)If there is a significant difference between the level of parental and peer support being received by the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Students batch 2007 of De La Salle - Health Sciences Campus. This study was conducted at De La Salle - Health Sciences Campus, College of Nursing and Midwifery. It focused mainly on the difference between the levels of parental and peer support being received by BS Nursing Students batch 2007. The total population of the respondents is 289. The researchers conducted the study among whole population of Nursing students batch 2007. In this study, the researchers grouped the respondents in terms of religious affiliation, socio-economic status of the family, and family structure. The difference between the levels of parental and peer support being received by the respondents was determined regardless of living with parents or staying in a dormitory. Relative to the findings, the following conclusions have been formulated: 1. Majority of the nursing students Batch 2007 of De La Salle-Health Sciences Campus are Catholics, have parents that earn above Php 40,000 a month, and belong to a two-parent family. 2. The respondents always receive physical support from their parents, while they often receive emotional, moral, and spiritual support from their parents. The students often receive emotional, moral, and spiritual support from their peers. 3. There is no significant difference in the level of physical, moral, and spiritual support being received by the respondents from their parents when grouped according to religious affiliation. However, there is a significant difference in the level of emotional support received by the respondents from their parents when they are grouped according to religious affiliation. There is no significant difference in the level of emotional, moral, and spiritual support being received by the respondents from their peers when they are grouped according to religious affiliation. There is no significant difference in the level of emotional, moral, and spiritual support being received by the respondents from their peers when they are grouped according to socio-economic status. However, there is a significant difference in the level of physical support being received by the respondents from their parents when they are grouped according to socio-economic status. There is no significant difference in the level of moral, emotional, and spiritual support being received by the respondents from their peers when they are grouped according to socio-economic status. There is no significant difference in the level of physical, emotional, moral, spiritual support received by the respondents from their parents when they were grouped according to family structure. There was no significant difference on the level of emotional, moral, and spiritual support being received by the respondents from their peers when they are grouped according to socio-economic status. However, there is a significant difference in the level of physical support being received by the respondents from their parents when they are grouped according to socio-economic status. There is no significant difference in the level of moral, emotional, and spiritual support being received by the respondents from their peers when they are grouped according to socio-economic status. There is no significant difference in the level of physical, emotional, moral, spiritual support received by the respondents from their parents when they were grouped according to family structure. There was no significant difference on the level of emotional, moral, and spiritual support being received by the respondents from their peers when they are grouped according to family structure. 4. Parents of the students give a higher level of moral and spiritual support than peers. However, peers give a higher level of emotional support than the parents of the respondents.
