Abstract

This study aims To find out the level of coping of cancer patients treated at De La Salle University Medical Center. B. SPECIFIC This research aimed to determine the following: 1. The profile of the respondents when they are grouped according to age, gender, educational attainment, civil status and economic status. 2. The level of coping cancer patients being treated at De La Salle University Medical Center. 3. The significant differences in the level of coping of cancer patients being treated at De La Salle University Medical Center when they are grouped according to age, gender, educational attainment, civil status and economic status.Fifty cancer patients were gathered from the De La Salle University Medical Center. The respondents were undergoing treatment at the mentioned hospital as outpatients. The respondents were selected in terms of their gender, age, educational attainment, civil status and economic status. The patients were selected regardless of type and stage of cancer. The study focused on patient's physical, emotional and psychological level of coping only and did not include any other aspects. The following conclusions were made based from the findings: 1. The profile states that majority of the respondents, belonged to age group of 51 to 60 years old, were females, reached elementary or college level, married and has an income of Php10,000 and below. 2. The respondents showed a high level of coping in terms of emotional, physical, and psychological aspect. 3. There was no significant difference in the level of coping of cancer patients in De La Salle University Medical Center when grouped according to age, gender, educational attainment and economic status, however, there was a significant difference in the level of coping of the respondents when grouped according to civil status.
