Abstract

This study investigated the different factors contributing to medication error among staff nurses in selected public hospitals in Cavite City and Muntinlupa City.To know the respondent's profile in terms of age, gender, length of service, monthly income, and nurse-patient ratio. b.To determine the factors contributing medication error among staff nurses in selected public hospitals in Cavite City and Muntinlupa City. c.To find out if there is a significant difference in the factors contributing to medication error when they are grouped according to age, gender, length of service, monthly income, and nurse-patient ratio. d.To come up with a nursing program that can be developed based on the factors contributing to medication error among staff nurses in selected public hospitals in Cavite City and Muntinlupa City. The study focused on the factors contributing to medication error among staff nurses in public hospitals in Cavite City and Muntinlupa City which include the Cavite Naval Hospital, Dra. Olivia Salamanca Memorial Hospital and Ospital ng Muntinlupa. The inclusion criteria for these hospitals were; (a) their total bed capacity i.e. 50 and above; (b) the type of hospital which is tertiary and (c) the researchers conducted their studies in public hospitals, private and semi private hospitals were not included. The respondents were composed of 102 staff nurses, and the breakdown is: (a) 65 staff nurses from Ospital ng Muntinlupa (b) 22 staff nurses from Cavite Naval Hospital and (c) 15 staff nurses from Dra. Olivia Salamanca Memorial Hospital. The respondents were grouped according to age, gender, length of service, nurse-patient ratio and monthly income.
