Abstract
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY A.General To determine the perception on the use of ampalaya supplement for clients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in selected barangays in Dasmarinas, Cavite. B.Specific To determine the: 1.Profile of the respondents in terms of preferred amapalay preparation, regularity of intake, duration of illness, blood sugar level and therapeutic measures taken by the respondents. 2. Perception of the selected respondents on the use of different ampalaya supplements in lowering blood glucose level. Significant difference in the perception of the selected respondents on the use of ampalaya supplement when grouped according to preferred ampalaya preparation, regularity of intake duration of illness, blood sugar level and therapeutic measure taken by the respondents. SCOPE AND COVERAGE: The study focused mainly on the preparation on the use of ampalaya supplement for clients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in selected barangays in Dasmarinas, Cavite. The selected barangays were Zone 2, Zone 1, San Agustin II and San Jose. One hundred diabetic clients were chosen in the selected barangays as respondents having the following pre-specified criteria: (a) clinically diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus; (b) users or not users of ampalaya supplements; (c) must be residing in the selected barangays in Dasmarinas, Cavite; (d) must have regular monitoring of blood sugar level in the Rural Health Unit for at least 3 months and (e) must be willing to participate in the study.
