Abstract

his study aimed to investigate the effects of staffing shortage in the level of performance of staff nurses at De La Salle University Medical Center. B. Specific This study sought to answer the following questions: 1.What is the profile of the staff nurses when they are grouped according to age, gender, length of experience, their hours of shift and monthly income? 2.What is the effect of staffing shortage among the staff nurses at DLS-UMC? 3.What is the level of performance of staff nurses in rendering care for their patients? 4.Is there a significant relationship between staffing shortage and the level of performance staff nurses at DLS-UMC? 5.Is there a significant difference in the level of performance of staff nurses when they are grouped according to age, gender, length of experience, their hours of shift and monthly income? The study was conducted at De La Salle University Medical Center with the staff nurses assigned in the medical and surgical units as respondents. The variables being considered were the socio-demographic profile of the staff nurses, their perception of the effects of staffing shortage and their level of performance.
