Abstract

The study determined the relationship between the perceived parenting styles and emotional intelligence among BSN students batch 2009 in De La Salle - Health Sciences Campus. Specifically, this study sought to determine the following: 1.To know the profile of the respondents when they are grouped according to age, gender, religious affiliation, family structure, ordinal position, parent's occupation, and monthly family income. 2.To know the parenting styles as perceived by the respondents of De La Salle - Health Sciences Campus. 3.To know the level of emotional intelligence of the respondents in De La Salle - Health Sciences Campus. 4.To know the level of emotional intelligence of the respondents in De La Salle - Health Sciences Campus when grouped into three parenting styles; namely, the authoritarian, authoritative, and permissive. 5.To determine if there exists a significant difference with the parenting styles to the respondents' demographic profiles: age, gender, religious affiliation, family structure, ordinal position, parents' occupation, and monthly family income. 6.To determine if there exists a significant difference with the level of emotional intelligence to the respondents' demographic profiles: age, gender, religious affiliation, family structure, ordinal position, parents' occupation, and monthly family income. 7.To determine if emotional intelligence is significant to the different parenting styles of the respondents.
