Abstract
The study used a descriptive quantitative type of research. The respondents of the study were significant others of stroke patients in selected hospitals in Cavite in terms of physical, psychological and spiritual aspects. The researchers utilized an adapted-modified type of questionnaire which was subjected to content and tool validation by different validators. The questionnaire went through pre-testing in one of the selected hospitals. The tool was distributed to four (4) other hospitals in Cavite after facing content and tool validation. The statistical treatments used in the study were mean, frequency, standard deviation, t-test and analysis of variance. The conclusions were made based from these findings: 1) Majority of the respondents in age group of 37-45 years old were females, married, graduated college, had a monthly family income of below Php10,000, Catholics, relatives of the stroke patients for 4-6 months period; 2) The respondents showed a high level of coping in terms of physical, psychological and spiritual aspects; 3) There was no significant difference in the level of coping mechanisms of significant others of stroke patients when grouped according to age, gender, civil status, educational attainment, monthly income, religion, relationship to the patient and period of care rendered.
