Abstract

This study used the descriptive method of research. The respondents were single men aged 18 to 35 years old residing on the selected areas in Dasmariñas, Cavite. The criteria were single males who do not have a child. The study included 50 respondents from each community, which produced a total of 200 respondents. The researchers utilized the convenience type of sampling, also known as accidental sampling. A 15-item self-made questionnaire was used as the main instrument for gathering the necessary data. In analyzing the data, the frequency distribution, percentage distribution, mean, t-test and f-test were used as statistical treatments. The study concluded that, 1) Majority of the respondents were 18 to 23 years old attained college level, unemployed, professed Catholic and had a monthly family income of Php5,000 and below; 2) Single men of selected communities in Dasmarinas, Cavite perceived that the husbands have roles on the physical, psychological and emotional aspect of their pregnant wife during prenatal care; 3) There is no significant difference in the perception on the roles of the respondents, when they are grouped according to age, religious affiliation and employment status. However, there is a significant difference in the perception of the respondents on the roles of husbands during prenatal care of their pregnant wife when they are grouped according to educational attainment and socioeconomic status.
