Abstract

The study utilized a non-experimental descriptive design. The population involved in the study was the BSN Batch 2009 third year level, because they are the ones involved in the revised grading system, where the classroom attendance has been removed from the grading system of major subjects. Stratified random sampling with a sample size of 196 was chosen. The researchers used a self-made questionnaire which is comprised of 20 statements. The study was analyzed through frequency distribution, z-test and f-test. The study concluded that: 1) The respondents were both distributed equally into male and female. Most of the respondents are Catholic and dorm occupants. Majority of them have a monthly family income of Php40,001 and above; 2) The perceptions of the respondents were represented by an overall mean level of 3.56 which signifies that they agreed with the statements presented in the questionnaire. The statement of “the removal of classroom attendance from the grading system of major subjects makes me more conscious of my grades” had the highest mean level out of the questions provided in the questionnaire. The removal of classroom attendance from the grading system of major subjects encourages me to look for other resources as a reference during lecture, got the lowest average and is under the Undecided bracket; 3) The perception of the BSN Batch 2009 students when grouped according to gender reveals a significant difference. Religion, monthly family income, and place of residency reveals no significance difference. Gender affects the perception of BSN Batch 2009 while the other variables such as religion, monthly family income and place of residency do not directly influence the perception of BSN Batch 2009.
