Abstract

The researcher utilized a non-experimental descriptive comparative quantitative research. Convenience and snowball sampling were used in selecting the respondents. The tool used in this study was self-made by the researchers and was validated by three professors from the College of Nursing and School of Midwifery of De La Salle Health Sciences Institute, where five (5) adolescent students raised by their parents and five (5) adolescent students raised by their grandparents with the same criteria as the respondents. Data was analyzed through frequency distribution, percentage, mean and Chi-square test. Based on the findings of this study, the following conclusions were drawn: 1) Majority of the adolescents were female, Catholic, high school graduates, with a very close relationship with their parents or their grandparents and have an active and responsive caregivers; 2) The common personality type of adolescents raised by their parents was type A personality; 3) The common personality type of adolescents raised by their grandparents was type A personality; 4) The personality type of adolescents raised by their parents had no significant difference when grouped according to gender, religion, emotional bond between the child and the caregiver, and, sensitivity and responsiveness of the caregiver. However, there was a significant difference in the personality type of adolescents raised by their parents when they were grouped according to educational attainment. Respondents who were college graduates were mostly type B, personality, high school graduates had type A personality and elementary graduate were mostly type A personality; 5) The personality type of adolescents raised by their grandparents had no significant difference when grouped according to gender, religion, educational attainment, emotional bond between the child and the caregiver, and sensitivity and responsiveness of the caregiver; 6) There was no significant difference between the personality of adolescents raised by their parents and those raised by their grandparents
