Abstract

This research was designed as a descriptive study. Using purposive sampling, the respondents of the study were all third year nursing students of De La Salle Health Sciences Institute who have had their night shift duty. The researchers used an adapted-modified questionnaire on the effects of night shift in the clinical performance. Frequency, mean, standard deviation, t-test and f-test were used in the statistical analysis of data. The following conclusions were obtained from the findings of the study: 1) Majority of the third year nursing students of De La Salle Health Sciences Institute were female and almost equally distributed at the Emergency Room and Operating Room; 2) The night shift affected the clinical performance of the selected DLSHSI nursing students batch 2010 to moderate extent; 3) The night shift has the same effect on the clinical performance of DLSHSI nursing students Batch 2010 when grouped according to gender and area of study.
