Abstract

This study used the quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive type of research method. Using purposive sampling, the respondents of this study were the nursing students Batch 2012 of De La Salle Health Sciences Institute. The instrument was developed by the researchers. It is a self-made questionnaire, further improved by the tool validators. In the analysis of the data gathered, frequency distribution, percentage, mean, t-test and f-test were the main statistical measures used in the study. The study concluded that, 1) Most of the respondents of this study are 17-18 years of age and female. Majority of them classified themselves under ambivert personality type; 2) Based on the findings of this study, the perception of the respondents regarding the effectiveness of presence of music while studying is high. The overall mean of the respondent’s perception is 3.05, which means that the majority of the students have a high perception regarding the effectiveness of presence of music while studying; 3) The perception of the respondents when grouped according to age, gender, and personality type reveals no significant difference. This entails that the perception of BSN Batch 2012 of De La Salle Health Sciences Institute on the effectiveness of presence of music while studying was not affected by the respondent’s profile.
