Abstract
Qualitative research design was used in this study, specifically the phenomenological approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling and judgmental sampling. The participants of the study were residents at Bahay Kalinga located in Dasmarinas Bagong Bayan-B, Cavite. The study used the extensive in-depth interview and observation to unveil the experiences of the participants. The analysis of the data gathered was based on Colaizzi’s phenomenological approaches. The study delved into lived experiences of the residents inside Bahay Kalinga. These residents are young individuals who have offended the law and are now held inside Bahay Kalinga. Although they are referred to as “residents” as a whole, their experiences most of the time vary from one person to another. Each resident is responsible for his/her own action and there are corresponding consequences whenever they commit wrongdoings inside the institution.
