Abstract
The study used a descriptive analysis. Purposive sampling was used to select 75 first year and 75 fourth year high school students from DNHS, male and female. Self-made questionnaire was used as research instrument. The study employed frequency distribution, t-test and f-test or ANOVA. The study concluded that, 1) Majority of the respondents were 13-15 years old, female, Catholic, have monthly family income of P5,000 and below, and the equal number of first year and fourth year high school students of DNHS are selected; 2) The respondents agree on the following perception pertaining to parental smoking, smoking is dangerous to one’s health, smoking is not good to parents’ health, smoking can cause several disease, smoking is a bad habit and parents should smoke outside the house. The respondents disagree on the following perceptions pertaining to parental smoking: if their parents are the ones who give them cigarette stick, it is okay for them to accept it, they tend to smoke when they see their parents smoke., it is already acceptable to smoke when you are already an adult, it is alright if their parents ask them to buy cigarette, their parents seems relieved from exhaustion after smoking; 3) There are no significant differences on the perception of the respondents when grouped according to age, gender, monthly family income, religion, and year level.
