This study was primarily undertaken to determine the perceptions of clients on the carative behavior and quality of care rendered by staff nurses in selected government and private hospitals in Cavite. The study utilized the correlational research design. It was composed of 100 selected clients using purposive sampling. Fifty (50) of the respondents came from selected government hospitals and fifty (50) respondents from selected private hospitals. The respondents of the study were patients of the selected hospitals that can speak, write and understand Filipino or English. Patients confined in the operating room, delivery room, MICU, PICU and outpatient unit were excluded in the study. The researchers adapted the tools from the theses of Rodil (2003) entitled "Relationship of Carative Behavior and Clinical Performance of Staff Nurses in Four Selected Catholic Hospitals" and Gasgonia et al. (2003) entitled "Perception of clients in the quality of care and carative behaviors of the student nurses in the science ward of De La Salle University Medical Center." With the findings gathered, the following conclusions were drawn: 1) majority of the clients from government hospitals are 21 to 30 years old, male, unemployed, married, catholic, have monthly income of P10,000 to P19,999 are high school graduates and were hospitalized from three to four days; 2) the staff nurses in the selected government hospitals have very good level of carative behavior and good level of quality of care; 3) the staff nurses in the selected private hospitals have a very good level of carative behavior and good level of quality care; 4) the staff nurses in government and private hospitals rendered the same level of quality of care; 5) the staff nurses from government hospitals have higher level of carative behavior thatn staff nurses from private hospitals; 6) there is no significant difference on the perception of carative behavior and quality of care of staff nurses in selected government and private hospitals in Cavite when the clients are grouped according to age, gender, socio-economic background, educational attainment, religion, length of hospitalization and civil status; 7) the staff nurses with high level of carative behavior will most likely have higher quality of care.
