Abstract

This study utilized a quantitative-descriptive type of research. A minimum of 100 respondents were included in the study. They were chosen through purposive sampling. The research instrument that was used for data gathering was a self-made questionnaire that was designed to elicit the following information: age, educational attainment, monthly family income, family structure, religious affiliation, and the psychosocial and emotional effects of pregnancy. The main statistical tools used in this study were: ANOVA, mean, percentage distribution and t-test. Based on the findings of this study, the following conclusions were revealed: 1) Majority of the childbearing adolescents are 18-20 years old, high school graduates, belonged to nuclear family structure, with P10,000.00 and below monthly family income and Catholics; 2) The psychosocial and emotional effects of pregnancy to childbearing adolescents in selected Barangay in Imus, Cavite are low; 3) There are no significant differences in the psychosocial effects of pregnancy to child bearing adolescents when the respondents are grouped according to age, educational attainment, family structure, and religious affiliations. However, there is a significant difference in the psychosocial effect when respondents are grouped according to monthly family income. There are no significant differences in the emotional effect of pregnancy to child rearing adolescents when the respondents are grouped according to age, educational attainment and religious affiliations. However, there is a significant difference in the emotional effects of pregnancy when the respondents are grouped according to family structure and monthly family income.
