Abstract

The study utilized a non-experimental correlation type of research using simple random technique. The respondents of this study was composed of all female Bachelor of Science in Nursing students Batch 2012 of De La Salle Health Sciences Institute. Adapted and self-made research instrument was used for data gathering. Percentage, mean, t-test, f-test and correlation coefficient (Pearson r) were used for data analysis. The study concluded that, 1) There were 159 female teenagers of Bachelor of Nursing Batch 2010 of De La Salle Health Sciences Institute responded in the research.. Most of the respondents were Catholic, had a monthly family income of more than 30,000 and an average perceived academic demand; 2) The level of self-esteem of the respondents was high which indicated that they had a good opinion of self. A high self-esteem indicates that a person might still know times of emotional suffering, but less often and with a faster recovery. Its presence did not guarantee fulfillment, but its absence guaranteed anxiety, frustration and despair; 3) The stress management technique of the respondents was very good. A good stress management technique would mean that a person knew how to deal with stress and found a way to overcome it. Among the five categories, the emotional management had the highest mean and physical management had the lowest mean; 4) There was no significant difference in the level of self-esteem of the respondents when grouped according to religion, monthly family income and perceived academic demands; 5) There was no significant difference in the stress management technique of the respondents when grouped according to religion, monthly family income and perceived academic; 6) There was a low significant relationship between self-esteem and stress management.
