Abstract

Qualitative research, particularly the phenomenological approach, was used in this study. The participants were eight (8) mothers who have autistic children, chosen using a combination of snowball and purposive sampling. Four (4) of them have children undergoing therapy in an institution in Cavite. One (1) mother is from Victoria, Laguna and three (3) are from Buli, Muntinlupa. The mothers were selected regardless of their age, marital status, and age of children. Interview was used for data gathering. Colaizzi’s method was used for data analysis. The study led to the conclusion that caring for children with autism is difficult and really requires a caring, loving, understanding heart and a never-ending patience.
