Abstract

A descriptive non-experimental correlational method of research was utilized in this study. The respondents were selected through purposive simple random sampling technique. They were composed of 90 caregivers of client with bronchial asthma aging 20 years old and above. The tool used was a self-made standardized form to gather data from the respondents. The statistical treatments utilized were standard deviation, percentage, mean, t-test, f-test or the One-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Pearson’s correlation coefficient. The study concluded that, 1) Most of the respondents belonged to age group of 20-40 years old, female, attained high school level and with a monthly income of P10,000 and below; 2) Most of the respondents were knowledgeable to a great extent regarding home care management of children with bronchial asthma; 3) Most of the respondents moderately practiced home care management of children with asthma; 4) Respondents were knowledgeable to a great extent regardless of their age and gender, but differed when grouped according to educational attainment and monthly income; 5) The respondents moderately practiced home care management regardless of gender and monthly income but they differed when grouped according to age and educational attainment; 6) The level of knowledge of primary caregivers was a determinant of their level of practice regarding home care management of client with asthma. This means that knowledge and practices of the respondents had a high positive correlation.
