Abstract

Objectives of the Study: General: This study seeks to know the perception of SHS students on CSE in De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute. Specific: The study aims to answer the following specific questions: What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of sex at birth, religion, and socioeconomic status? 1. What is the perception of senior high school students in terms of awareness, perceived effectiveness and importance of the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) at De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute? 2. Is there a significant difference in the perception of senior high school students on Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) when they are grouped according to sex at birth, religion, and socioeconomic status?

Methodology: Using a self-made questionnaire and statistical analysis, the research uses a quantitative technique with a descriptive-analytical design to collect and analyze data. It looks into the perceptions of senior high school students at DLSMHSI about CSE. The 4-point Likert scale, which was broken down into three sections and focused on CSE awareness, effectiveness, and importance, was completed via Google Forms.

Major Findings: The following findings were drawn from this study: 1. A total of 254 responses were collected, with a majority being female (69.7%), Catholic (85%), and from households with the majority of incomes ranging between ₱76,669 - ₱131,484 and above ₱219,140. 2. The respondents expressed very high perceived awareness (mean = 3.32), effectiveness (mean = 3.71), and importance (mean = 3.77) of CSE. 3. Significant differences were observed in perceptions based on sex, with females exhibiting higher perception scores compared to males. However, no significant differences were found based on religion, while differences in perceived importance were noted across various socioeconomic groups.

Conclusions: From the findings of the study, the following conclusions were drawn: 1. The SHS students of DLSMHSI has a notably high perceived awareness, effectiveness, and importance of CSE. Despite demographic disparities such as gender, religion, and socioeconomic status, the overall perception is consistently favorable.
