Abstract
Objectives of the Study: The study aimed to determine the Motivation of Registered Nurses in the Philippines. Specifically, the study determined the following: 1. The demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age, sex, marital status, type of family, years of clinical experience, area of hospital assignment, family monthly income, and employment status 2. The motivations of registered nurses to practice in the Philippines 3. If there is a significant difference in the motivations of registered nurses to practice in the Philippines when they are grouped according to age, sex, marital status, type of family, years of clinical experience, area of hospital assignment, family monthly income, and employment status
Methodology: The study explored Filipino nurses' motivation using a descriptive approach, employing an adopted questionnaire and snowball sampling among level 3 hospitals in Cavite. Statistical analyses included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, f-test, p-value, and ANOVA.
Findings The following findings were acquired from the study: 1. The respondents were mainly female nurses aged 25-30 (40%), mostly single (56%), from nuclear families (72%). Most had 1-3 years experience (39%), worked in General Ward (68%), earned ₱21,194-₱43,827 monthly (48%), and held permanent positions (64%). 2. The study found moderate motivation among registered nurses to practice in the Philippines. 3. The comparison of the factors affecting the motivation of registered nurses to practice in the Philippines had the following results: a. There was insufficient evidence to reject the null hypothesis of no significant difference in motivation based on sex, marital status, family type, hospital assignment area, family income, and employment status. b. The null hypothesis for age and years of clinical experience was rejected.
Conclusions The following conclusions were made: 1. Most respondents, aged 25-30, were female Filipino registered nurses. Among 293, most were single, from nuclear families, with 1-3 years clinical experience, mainly in General Ward roles. Family incomes ranged from ₱21,194 to ₱43,827, with most holding permanent positions. 2. Motivation among registered nurses to practice in the Philippines was rated as “moderate”. 3. There were statistically significant differences in motivation based on age and years of clinical experience. Conversely, there were no statistically significant differences in motivation based on sex, marital status, family type, hospital assignment area, family income, and employment status.
