If there is a significant difference in the level of awareness of the College of Nursing faculty when they are grouped according to age, sex, religion, and educational attainment. 5. If there is a significant difference in the level of acceptance of the College of Nursing faculty when they are grouped according to age, sex, religion, and educational attainment. 6. The correlation between the level of awareness and level of acceptance of the College of Nursing faculty on the gender expression of LGBTQIA+ students.
Methodology: A correlational research design was utilized in the study to determine the level of awareness and level of acceptance of the De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute College of Nursing faculty on the gender expression of LGBTQIA+ students. The researchers utilized a modified 30-item questionnaire in a 4-point Likert scale format. The study was carried out within the De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute during the Academic Year 2023-2024, with a total sample size comprising forty-nine (49) academic teaching faculty. To interpret and analyze the results of the study, statistical tools were further utilized.
Major Findings: The following findings were drawn from the study: 1. The majority of the respondents are aged 30-64 years old, female, of Roman Catholic religious belief, and master's degree holders. 2. The overall level of awareness of the College of Nursing faculty on the gender expression of LGBTQIA+ students is measured to be (M = 3.33), which is perceived as very high level of awareness. 3. The overall level of acceptance of the College of Nursing faculty on the gender expression of LGBTQIA+ students is measured to be (M = 2.19), interpreted as moderately low level of acceptance. 4. The comparison of the level of awareness of the respondents when grouped according to age (p-value = 0.052), sex (p-value = 0.544), religion (p-value = 0.342), and educational attainment (p-value = 0.448), with no significant difference. Thus, the researchers accept the first null hypothesis of the study. 5. The comparison of the level of acceptance of the respondents when grouped according to age (p-value = 0.665), sex (p-value = 0.770), religion (p-value = 0.226), and educational attainment (p-value = 0.107), with no significant difference. Thus, the researchers accept the second null hypothesis of the study. 6. The relationship between the level of awareness and level of acceptance of the respondents on gender expression of LGBTQIA+ students yielded a score of (rs = -0.92; p-value = 0.529), interpreted as having a very strong negative correlation, but with no significant difference, thus the researchers accept the third null hypothesis of the study.
