Abstract
The qualitative research design was utilized in this study, specifically the phenomenological approach. Participants were chosen using purposive sampling. The findings of the study led to the conclusion that a private duty nurse is another field of nursing that entails a lot of challenges. Being a private duty nurse, there are different qualities or attitudes that a nurse must possess. Also, there are experiences in other fields of nursing that the participants find useful in order to be an effective private duty nurse. One must acquire different set of skills and must master different fields of nursing in order to provide proper nursing care. One must also be loving, understanding, can cope well, flexible and with endless patience.
