Abstract

A quantitative descriptive analytical design was used in determining the factors affecting choices of career fields in BSN 2023. The research included 161 nursing students. A modified-adapted questionnaire was utilized in this study. Data was collected using Facebook Messenger where the Google Forms link was distributed. Statistical treatments used were Frequency and Percentage, Mean, ANOVA Test, Tukey Test, and T-Test. The following conclusions were obtained from the study’s findings: 1. Most of the respondents were female, last-born, and have musical hobbies. Most of their parents were not healthcare professionals and were college graduates or higher and most of them had a monthly family income of Php 182,000 or more. 2. The factors of self-efficacy, outcome expectations, and level of interest moderately affect the choice of career fields of the respondents. Among the three factors, the level of interest greatly affects the choice of career fields of the respondents. 3. It was revealed that factors of self-efficacy, outcome expectations, and level of interest when grouped according to some specific demographic profiles of the respondents (parent’s educational attainment and monthly family income) were known to influence the choice of career fields of the respondents.
