Abstract

A descriptive-analytical quantitative design was utilized in the study to determine the perception of De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute male nursing students on gender barriers in Intrapartum care. The researchers utilized a 15-item questionnaire in Likert Scale format. The study was carried out within the De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute College of Nursing Department during the Academic Year 2022-2023, with a total sample of 64 male nursing students from levels 2 to 4. To interpret and analyze the results of the study, statistical tools were further utilized. After a careful analysis of the findings, the following conclusions were made: 1. In terms of year level, most of the responses were obtained from second-year male nursing students of De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute. 2. All respondents perceived gender barriers as low evident in performing intrapartum care in the delivery room. 3. All respondents from second-year to fourth-year have the same sense of gender barriers in intrapartum care, indicating that there was no significant difference in perception when grouped according to their year level.
