Abstract

This study used the descriptive, non-experimental quantitative research design. Fifty-eight (58) respondents who are hypertensive clients of the barangay health center, ages 30-80 years old, are included. Purposive sampling was used to selected the sample from the target population. The research instrument that was used to gather data in s a self-made survey questionnaire. Data was analyzed through, mean, percentage, standard deviation, Kruskal Wallis H Test, Mann Whitney U Test and Cochran's Formula of Finite Population. The study concluded that, 1) Majority of the respondents are female, married, ranging from 70-79 years old. Most are either high school undergraduates, high school graduates, or finished vocational courses, with a family monthly income of less than P10,957, and with 1-2 prescribed daily medications, 2) Medical adverse effects is the factor affects the clients' compliance with their hypertension maintenance therapy to a limited extent (LE), 3) There is a significant difference in the factors affecting compliance in terms of memory lapses when grouped according to marital status. Respondents who are single have lower compliance compared with those who are married.
