Abstract

The study utilized a descriptive analytical design using purposive sampling. The 283 respondents from DLSMHSI BS Nursing students were distributed using Cochran's formula and equally represented into 4-year levels. The respondent's demographic data, eating behaviors, and nutritional status during the pandemic was gathered using a derived questionnaire from the study of Kumari, A., Ranjan, P., Vikram, K. et al. (2020). A modified 4-point Likert scale. The questionnaire was disseminated using a Google form link containing the informed consent form and questionnaire together with the letter of approval for data gathering. In determining the perceived effects of COVID-19 according to sex, T-tests were used while One-Way ANOVA was used to determine the perceived effects of COVID-19 according to year level. The study concluded that, 1) Majority of the respondents of the study were female and were from Level I; 2) The COVID-19 pandemic has been perceived to have a moderate effect on the eating behaviors of the respondents. Among the statements, the highest obtained mean pertains to the increase in consumption of home-cooked meals during quarantine, indicating a perceived moderate effect; 3) The COVID-19 pandemic has been perceived to have a low effect on the nutritional status of the respondents. Among the statements, the highest obtained mean pertains to the perception of weight gain during COVID-19 pandemic, indicating a perceived moderate effect; 4) The respondents perceived the effects of COVID-19 pandemic to their eating behaviors to be the same regardless of sex and year level; 5) The respondents perceived the effects of COVID-19 pandemic to their nutritional status to be the same, regardless of their sex, however, there are significant differences on the perceived effects of COVID-19 pandemic to the nutritional status of the respondents when grouped among year levels.
