Abstract

The study used a non-experimental descriptive correlational research design. Convenience sampling wherein people are randomly selected to chose the 95 vaccinated residents. The researchers utilized an online questionnaire using Google forms. Data was analyzed using frequency distribution, weighted mean, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation, T-test, Kruskall Wallis, Mann Whitney U and median. The study concluded that the most prevalent side effect from the COVID-19 vaccine experienced by the residents in Barangay Sabang, City of Cavite, is injection site pain. When compared, the prevalence of side effects from the vaccine has no significant difference when grouped according to sex and comorbidity. However, a significant difference in the prevalence of side effects can be noted when grouped according to age and vaccine brand. The age group of 65 and above and respondents who received the AstraZeneca vaccine experienced a more significant side effect from the COVID-19 vaccine than other groups. In terms of the level of vaccine perception, concerning the 15 negative statements in the tool, the residents of Barangay Sabang, City of Dasmarinas, Cavite, have a low level of vaccine perception of 3.81 which means that the residents have a generally positive perception towards the COVID-19 vaccine even after experiencing side effects from it. When compared, there is no significant difference in vaccine perception when grouped according to age, sex, comorbidity, and vaccine brand.
