Abstract
This research study utilized a non-experimental descriptive method as a research design. Proportional quota sampling was used in determining the 265 nursing students of De La Salle Medical and Health Science Institute (DLSMHSI) serving as the respondents of the study. A self-made questionnaire was utilized to collect data on the perceptions on the impact of the current limited socialization on the academic performance of the respondents which was based on the theoretical framework and literature of this research. The actual data gathering was conducted via an online survey platform which was Google Form distributed to class presidents through Facebook or email. The frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-Test and f-ration (ANOVA) were used in the statistical treatment of data. Based on the preceding findings, the researchers concluded the following: 1. Most of the respondents, according to the demographic data, are within 18 to 21 years of age, Filipinos, females, first year level, and ambiverts. 2. The respondents have perceived overall that there is a negative impact of limited socialization on their academic performance during the COVID-19 pandemic. More specifically, the following five factors were identified as being affected by limited socialization, and in turn impacted their academic performance: motivation, comprehension, communication, focus and prioritization, and coping. 3. There are no significant differences on the perceptions on the impact of limited socialization on the academic performance of the respondents during COVID-19 pandemic according to their age, sex, year level, and citizenship. On the other hand, with regard to their personality types, there is a significant difference in their perception, as there was a noted difference between the responses given by students who identified themselves as an extrovert versus the students who identified themselves as introverts. As a result, personality types are a factor to consider in the perception of the impact of limited socialization on the academic performance of the students during COVID-19 pandemic.
