Abstract
This study utilized the direct observation research design. The research subjects were composed of 20 patients from the Philippine Children’s Medical Center who underwent intravenous insertion. The respondents for this stud were chosen through purposive quota sampling. The researchers constructed a pediatric pain scale to gather data and information which served in answering the problems presented and to attain the specific objectives of the study. The pain scale for this stud used a quantitative approach wherein data were ranked and analyzed using the statistical treatment Mean, Average, t-test on two samples and correlation of coefficient, pearson products “r” to get the relationship of behavioral responses of the children from IV insertion. There is a correlation in the behavioral responses of 3-6, 7-10 and combined age children if grouped according to sex, support system, and past experience, thus, rejecting the second hypothesis; there is no significant difference to the degree of responses to perception of pain in 3-6, 7-10 children if grouped according to sex, support sstem and past experience, thus, accepting the third hypothesis.
