Abstract

This study utilized the descriptive research design. The respondents were chosen through purposive or judgmental sampling. The number of respondents involved 100 primipara mothers from selected barangays in Tanza, Cavite. The study used self-made questionnaire for gathering data. Data was analyzed through frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, f-test and t-test. The study concluded that, 1) Majority of the first time mothers are 18 to 25 years old, married, high school graduates, unemployed, have monthly family income below P10,000 and have presence of support system; 2) The respondents disagree that child rearing has an effect on their physical, social and emotional-mental facets; 3) There were no significant differences in the perceived effects of child rearing on physical, social, mental and emotional facets of first time mothers when they are grouped according to age, civil status, employment status and monthly family income and presence of support system but had a significant effect on the educational attainment.
