Abstract
The study aims to discover the basic factors that affects alcoholism and this will sought to answer the following: 1. Determine how people perceived alcoholism. 2. Identify the contributory factors related to alcoholism. 3. Know how alcoholism affects life and his environment. a. physiologically b. socially c. psychologically d. economically. Based on the data gathered it was found out that all the respondents perceived that alcoholism is a disease wherein a person can't avoid drinking alcohol and the cause for this was they were longing for parents love and attention from the family. Majority of the respondents perceived that alcohol affects them physiologically, because, it destroys internal organs, physiologically, because they are losing their self control, economically, since alcohol was being given priority rather than food for the family. Based on the above findings it was concluded that hypothesis 1 and 2 were rejected since respondents perception regarding alcoholism and the contributory factors do not differ with one another. Hypothesis 3 was accepted since the respondents perceived that alcoholism have great effects on man's life and his environment, physiologically, socially, psychologically and economically.
