Abstract
This research study is a descriptive analytic and comparative design. With regards to data gathering, a ranking mode questionnaire was used. The respondents were requested to rank the prepared questionnaire from (1) indicating the motivation which influenced the most and (6) indicating the least motivation which influenced them. A total of one hundred (100) respondents from the Bachelor of Science of Nursing IV and one hundred (100) respondents also from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing II were taken through convenience sampling. The statistical treatment used were frequency distribution, ranking and Spearman Rho. The following findings were drawn: 1.) The hierarchy of motivations of Bachelor of Science in Nursing IV Class ’92 students ranked as follows: 1st- Personal Interest and Aptitude, 2nd- Reward of Nursing Service, 3rd- Influence of Significant Others, 4th- High Opportunity for employment abroad, 5th- Challenging Experience and Environment of Nursing; and 6th- Qualification of Students in Admission and Screening Requirements; and 2.) The hierarchy of motivations of Bachelor of Science in Nursing II Class ’94 students ranked as follows: 1st- Reward of Nursing Service, 2nd- Personal Interest and Aptitude, 3rd- Influence of Significant Others, 4th- High Opportunity for Employment Abroad, 5th- Challenging Experience and Environment of Nursing; and 6th- Qualification of Students in Admission and Screening Requirements. By using Spearman Rho test, it was found out that there is significant difference between the hierarchy of motivation of Bachelor of Science in Nursing Class ’92 and ’94 students.
