Abstract

This study was conducted to identify the perceptions of the Nursing Students and patients about quality of Nursing Care. In this study the researcher's tried to determine the difference in perception between the two groups of respondents. This study was prompted by the need to uplift the quality of Nursing care rendered to patients. Through this study the knowledge and awareness in rendering care will improve. During their duties at this hospital it was conceived where the problems of this study is to determine in perceptions of the Nursing Students and Patients about quality of Nursing Care. The findings would serve as an eye opener for the student nurses in improving the quality of nursing care render to patients. This investigation might prove beneficial to practicing nurses in preparing them for this profession as well as the patients who oftentimes cannot express their needs, physical needs, psychosocial and emotional needs and spiritual needs. Should be attended by the nurse in order to achieve the quality of nursing care without any expectation that she will be given a reward for their services in return. The significant findings of this study was that student nurses perceived physical needs ranked first as their priority in rendering care followed by psycho-social and emotional needs and last is spiritual needs. Then patient's perception about the quality of nursing care which they wished to receive is more on psycho-social, and emotional aspect of care, followed by physical aspect of care which they wished to receive is more on psycho-social, and emotional aspect of care, followed by physical aspect of care and last is spiritual aspect of care. Based on the findings of the research it can be concluded that student nurses and patients perception has a slight difference about the quality of nursing care in the hospital. Student nurses lack time to communicate with patients. In which patient's greatly need psycho-social and emotional care.
