Abstract
This study utilized experiential research design which systematically included the determination of the acid tolerance of L. acidophilus, preparation of the cell free extracts lyophilized at UPLB-BIOTECH and the measurement of alpha glucosidase inhibition using microtiter plate reader. Data was analyzed through mean, standard deviation and ANOVA. The results of study revealed that Lactobacillus acidophilus BIOTECH 1900 did not survive at pH 2.5 and at pH 3. The concentration of 0.13 mg/mL had the highest inhibition percentage. A significant difference was noted among the samples as proven by a p-value of
