Abstract
The preparation of biocompatible films with antibacterial properties is desirable for biomedical applications. The study aimed to synthesize silver nanoparticles from Premna odorata Blanco leaves extract and incorporate these nanomaterials in k-carrageenan films. Various volumes of the aqueous extract of P. odorata Blanco leaves were used to reduce AG+ to AG0 and from the nanoparticles. The reaction was monitored using UV-Vis spectroscopy with ƛmax around 420 nm. The silver nanoparticles showed antibacterial properties. Then, AgNPs were reinforced in k-carrageenan films and also exhibited antibacterial properties. The prepared films are promising for its possible biomedical application.
