Abstract
The phytochemical investigation of PE, DCM and EtOH crude extracts was performed with the isolated compounds subjected for characterization through chemical and spectroscopic techniques. The antimicrobial activities of the crude extracts were also evaluated against representative gram-positive bacterium (S. aureus), gram-negative bacterium (E. coli) and fungus (S. cerevisiae). Among the three extracts only hexane exhibited weak inhibition against the representative microorganism S. aureus. The chemical and spectroscopic analyses showed the pure extracts to exhibit terpene and terpenoid characteristics.
